Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be admitted to the M.F.A. program in the UCLA Department of Art.
- A bachelor's degree is required; a degree in art is preferred but not mandatory.
- The M.F.A. program is full-time; part-time enrollment is not permitted.
Application Process
- Online Application: Submit the UCLA Graduate Division application, selecting the Department of Art M.F.A. program.
- $135 for U.S. applicants; $155 for international applicants. Fee waivers may be available for eligible applicants.
- Supporting Documents:
- Transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended.
- Names and contact information for three references (letters of recommendation are not required).
- Statement of Purpose and Personal Statement.
- Portfolio of recent work.
Scholarship Benefits
- Funding Coverage
- For current academic year, all M.F.A. students received award support covering approximately 50% of their student fees and tuition.
- Opportunities to apply for Teaching Assistantship positions, which offer a quarterly salary and partial fee remission during the term(s) of employment.
- Funding is typically awarded on an annual basis, with the possibility of renewal each year based on satisfactory academic progress and availability of funds.
- Extra Benefits:
- Access to departmental scholarships such as the Laura Andreson Scholarship, Samuel Booth Art Scholarship, and Helen Frankenthaler Scholarship, among others.
