Eligibility Criteria

  • Master's, Doctoral, or Integrated Doctoral Education Program under the International Graduate Program (A)
  • Minimum GPA of 2.30 out of 3.00 in the last-attended degree program
  • Must hold the nationality of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan
  • Sufficient proficiency in English or Japanese, depending on the program requirements
  • Must be physically and mentally fit to pursue studies in Japan
  • Must be able to arrive in Japan during the specified period as designated by MEXT

Application Process

  • Identify and contact a prospective academic supervisor at Science Tokyo
  • Prepare and submit the application for the International Graduate Program (A) along with the MEXT scholarship application
  • Submit all required documents to the Admissions Division during the designated application period
  • Await university's internal selection and subsequent recommendation to MEXT
     
  • Documents Required:
    • Completed application form for the International Graduate Program (A)
    • Academic transcripts from all attended institutions
    • Certificate of graduation or expected graduation
    • Recommendation letter from the dean or equivalent official of the applicant's home university addressed to the President of Science Tokyo
    • Proof of language proficiency (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS, JLPT scores)
    • Research plan or statement of purpose
    • Valid passport copy
    • Any additional documents as specified by the program

Scholarship Benefits

  • Monthly stipend: JPY 147,000 for master's students; JPY 148,000 for doctoral students
  • Full exemption from enrollment and tuition fees
