Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be registered nurses.
- Must hold a degree in Nursing with First-Class or Upper Second-Class Honours, or an international equivalent.
- Must have applied or plan to apply to the MSc by Research (Nursing) program commencing in September 2025.
- Must submit a research proposal aligning with the subject area's research interests, using the School's template.
- For non-native English speakers, an IELTS score of 7.0 (with at least 6.5 in each module) or equivalent is required.
Application Process
- Complete the University of Edinburgh's online application for the MSc by Research (Nursing) by 23:59 (GMT) on 21st April 2025.
- After applying, access the online scholarship application form located in EUCLID via MyEd, the university's web-based information portal: MyEd.
- Log in using your University User Name and password.
- Documents Required:
- A curriculum vitae (CV) of no more than two pages.
- A 2-3 page research proposal using the School's template.
- A 500-word personal statement detailing how the Burdett Fellow Scholarship would impact you and your local/professional communities.
- A covering letter outlining your interest in the studentship and how you meet the essential (and desirable) criteria.
- International applicants must provide a letter of support from one or two academics from their supporting Higher Education Institution (HEI) or health institution, confirming support for their research activities in their country (e.g., access to study sites for data collection).
Scholarship Benefits
- Funding Coverage:
- For UK (Home) students: A stipend of £10,506 per annum plus coverage of University fees.
- For International students: A stipend of £17,860 per annum plus coverage of University fees.
- Duration of Funding:
- Funding is provided for one year of full-time study.
- Funding is provided for one year of full-time study.
- Extra Benefits:
- Recipients will be designated as Burdett Fellows or Nursing Studies Burdett Fellows, reflecting their role in advancing nursing research and leadership.
