Demonstrated strong research background and potential for innovative contributions to their field.
Commitment to advancing foundational research in the natural sciences.
Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration and science communication.

Research proposal outlining the applicant's vision for independent research
Three letters of recommendation
Submit the application through the Stanford Science Fellows program website.
Typically in the fall preceding the fellowship start date (e.g., applications for the 2025 cohort may be due in fall 2024). Exact dates are announced on the program website.

Annual stipend of $88,000
Benefits, including health insurance
Up to $8,000 per year in supplemental funds for research and professional development
Up to $2,000 in relocation expenses

- Access to Stanford's research facilities across multiple schools and the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory
- Mentorship from Stanford faculty
- Participation in community-building activities, workshops, seminars, and science communication training
