Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a domestic or international student enrolled in an accredited HDR program at ANU.
- Must have achieved a minimum of First-Class Honours (H1) or equivalent in prior studies.
Application Process
- No separate scholarship application is required. All eligible candidates are automatically considered based on their application for admission to an HDR program at ANU.
- Key Dates:
- Round 1:
International applicants: Apply by 31 August for commencement by 31 March of the following year.
Domestic applicants: Apply by 31 October for commencement by 31 March of the following year. - Round 2:
Both international and domestic applicants: Apply by 15 April for commencement by 31 August of the same year.

- Completed application for admission to an HDR program.
- Academic transcripts.
- Curriculum vitae (CV).
- Research proposal.
- Referee reports.
Scholarship Benefits
- Funding Coverage:
- Annual stipend of $38,154 (2024 rate), paid fortnightly.
- Travel and removal allowances for students relocating to Canberra to commence their research program.
- Thesis allowance upon submission of the thesis.
- Dependent child allowance (for international students only).
- Paid medical, maternity, and parental leave.
- Duration of Funding:
- 3.5 years for PhD candidates, with a possible 6-month extension.
- 2 years for Master of Philosophy (MPhil) candidates, with a possible 6-month extension.

- Selection Criteria:
- Academic record.
- Research potential and support from the prospective supervisor.
- Referee reports.
- English language proficiency.
- Comparison with other applications received in the same scholarship round.
- Conditions:
- Recipients must maintain full-time enrollment and satisfactory academic progress.
- The scholarship cannot be held concurrently with another award that provides a similar benefit.
- Recipients are expected to be resident in Canberra for the duration of the program, except for approved fieldwork or conferences.
