Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must have a research proposal that aligns with the school's research interests.
- A UK first-class or 2:1 honours degree, or an equivalent overseas qualification in a relevant subject.
- For PhD in Clinical Psychology applicants, a master's degree in a relevant field is also required.
- If English is not the first language, an IELTS score of 7.0 (with at least 6.5 in each component) or equivalent is necessary.
- Demonstrated interest in applied social science research on health and society, aligning with the school's research areas.
- Evidence of the ability to develop a feasible, novel research proposal.
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a professional manner.
- Experience in reviewing academic literature.
- Skills in empirical research using quantitative and/or qualitative methods.
- Commitment to completing a PhD at the University of Edinburgh over three years full-time or six years part-time.
Application Process
- Applicants must apply for admission to the relevant PhD programme at the University of Edinburgh's School of Health in Social Science.
- Documents Required:
- Completed research proposal form.
- Two references.
- Undergraduate degree certificate and transcript (and master's degree certificate and transcript if applicable).
- Evidence of English language competency.
- If applying for the PhD by Distance, a completed PhD by Distance application form.
Scholarship Benefits
- Funding Coverage:
- The studentship covers University fees at the UK tuition fee rate and provides a stipend set to the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) level for 2023/24. For reference, the UKRI level for 2022/23 was £17,668 for full-time students, or the pro-rata equivalent for part-time students.
