Eligibility Criteria

  • Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA), Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in various music disciplines, Master of Arts (MA) in Music, Science and Technology
  • Bachelor's degree for MA applicants; relevant undergraduate or master's degree for doctoral applicants
  • TOEFL scores required for non-native English speakers
  • Diagnostic exam in music theory, aural skills, and keyboard proficiency for doctoral students

Application Process

  • Complete the online application via Stanford's Graduate Admissions portal.
  • Submit required documents, including transcripts, test scores, letters of recommendation, and statement of purpose.
  • Pay the application fee ($125) or apply for a fee waiver if eligible.
