Eligibility Criteria

  • Programs: Master's, Doctoral, or Integrated Doctoral Education Program under the International Graduate Program (A)
  • Academic Performance: Minimum GPA of 2.30 out of 3.00 in the last-attended degree program
  • Nationality: Must hold the nationality of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan
  • Language Proficiency: Sufficient proficiency in English or Japanese, depending on the program requirements
  • Health: Must be physically and mentally fit to pursue studies in Japan
  • Arrival in Japan: Must be able to arrive in Japan during the specified period as designated by MEXT

Application Process

  • Identify and contact a prospective academic supervisor at Science Tokyo
  • Prepare and submit the application for the International Graduate Program (A) along with the MEXT scholarship application
  • Application period typically runs from mid-September to early December of the year prior to intended enrollment
  • Await university's internal selection and subsequent recommendation to MEXT
     
  • Documents Required:
    • Completed application form for the International Graduate Program (A)
    • Academic transcripts from all attended institutions
    • Certificate of graduation or expected graduation
    • Recommendation letters from academic advisors or relevant authorities
    • Proof of language proficiency (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS, JLPT scores)
    • Research plan or statement of purpose
    • Valid passport copy
    • Any additional documents as specified by the program
