Michael Baldwin Memorial Scholarship

Citizens of any South Pacific nation, excluding New Zealand and Australian citizens (including dual citizens)
Enrolled or intending to enroll in an approved full-time program at the University of Waikato
Demonstrated commitment to contribute to development/society in the South Pacific Region
Preference may be given to applicants who can demonstrate financial need
Preference may be given to citizens of Papua New Guinea
Previous recipients may reapply but must have passed all papers in the year(s) they held the scholarship
Applicants holding a NZAID Scholarship are not eligible

Apply for admission to an approved full-time program at the University of Waikato
Complete the online scholarship application via the MyWaikato portal
Documents Required:
- Completed online application form
- Curriculum Vitae (maximum 2 A4 pages)
- Proof of citizenship
- Verified copies of academic transcripts (including grading scale)
- Two confidential references: one academic and one character (not from immediate family)
- Statement detailing current, future, or prior contributions to community development/society in the South Pacific region
- Details of financial need and any additional funding sources
- For previous recipients: statement about the impact of the scholarship

Total value of up to NZD $10,000
$5,000 disbursed after the withdrawal date of A Trimester
$5,000 disbursed after the withdrawal date of B Trimester, conditional on passing all papers in A Trimester
Tenure of one year
Encouragement to participate in the Imua Programme during the scholarship tenure
