Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a national of an ADB borrowing member country.
  • Hold a bachelor's degree or its equivalent with a superior academic record.
  • At least two years of full-time professional working experience acquired after obtaining a university degree.
  • Proficiency in oral and written English communication skills.
  • Not more than 35 years old at the time of application; in exceptional cases, age limit is 45 years.
  • Be in good health.
  • Agree to return to and work in the home country for at least two years after completion of studies.
  • Not be an Executive Director, Alternate Director, management, staff, or consultant of ADB, or a close relative of the aforementioned.
  • Not be living or working in a country other than the home country.
  • Not be enrolled in graduate degree programs at the time of application.

Application Process

  • Check eligibility requirements on the ADB website.
  • Identify and contact a prospective academic supervisor at Science Tokyo to obtain consent for supervision.
  • Prepare and submit the application for the International Graduate Program (C) along with the ADB-JSP application documents to the Admissions Division during the designated application period.
  • Await the university's internal selection and subsequent recommendation to ADB.
     
  • Documents Required:
    • Completed application form for the International Graduate Program (C).
    • ADB-JSP Information Sheet.
    • Academic transcripts from all attended institutions.
    • Certificate of graduation or expected graduation.
    • Recommendation letters from academic advisors or relevant authorities.
    • Proof of English proficiency (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS scores).
    • Research proposal (one page).
    • Income certificates for the applicant and family members.
    • Employment certificates detailing work experience.
    • Valid passport copy.
    • Any additional documents as specified by the program.

Scholarship Benefits

  • Monthly stipend of JPY 147,000.
  • Annual book allowance of JPY 100,000.
  • Thesis allowance of JPY 50,000.
  • Full coverage of application, enrollment, and tuition fees.
  • Medical insurance.
  • Round-trip airfare between the home country and Japan.
  • Scholarship period is one year with a possible extension to the second year of study.
