Eligibility Criteria

  • Academic Qualifications:
    • PhD holders: Must be within three years of receiving their degree at the time of application.
    • MD or MD/PhD holders: Must be within three years of completing ACGME clinical training.​
       
  • Institutional Affiliation:
    • Applicants already in paid postdoctoral positions at the University of Chicago are ineligible unless they commenced their position on or after September 1, 2024.
    • Current University of Chicago graduate students are eligible.
    • Individuals who have accepted a postdoctoral position but have not yet started are eligible.​
       
  • Mentorship Requirement
    • Applicants must identify a University of Chicago faculty mentor with a primary or secondary appointment in a department within the Biological Sciences Division.

Application Process

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  • One-page summary of graduate research.
  • Copy of the most significant publication (published, in press, or preprint).
  • Two-page research proposal detailing the proposed project at the University of Chicago, including a statement of author contributions.
  • Support letter from the identified University of Chicago faculty mentor.
  • Two letters of reference​.
  • Combine all documents into a single PDF file, following the specified order.
  • Letters of reference and the mentor's letter can be included in the PDF.
  • Submit the complete application through the official Portal.
