Lee Family PhD Scholarships

Applicants must be from mainland China or Hong Kong.
Must be applying for or enrolled in an MRes/PhD or MPhil/PhD program within any academic department at LSE.
Selection is based on outstanding academic merit and research potential.
1-2 new scholarships are available for the 2025/26 academic year.

Submit a complete application for an MRes/PhD or MPhil/PhD program at LSE, including all required documents such as references, research proposal, and marked work.
Ensure that the application is submitted by the funding deadline specified by the respective academic department. Deadlines can be found on the specific program pages.
All eligible applicants who submit complete applications by the departmental funding deadline will be considered for the scholarship; no separate scholarship application is required.
Documents Required:
- Completed application form for the chosen PhD program
- Academic transcripts and degree certificates
- Research proposal
- Two academic references
- Sample of written work (as specified by the department)
- Proof of nationality (passport or national ID)

Funding Coverage:
- Full payment of tuition fees for four years
- Annual stipend in line with UKRI rates (minimum £21,237)
Duration of Funding:
- Four years, subject to satisfactory academic progress.
