Undamped free vibration of Laminated composite beam.Army Institute of Technology
Modelling of a Laminated composite beam in Abaqus is done by assuming the beam theory “Classical Laminate Plate Theory” (CLPT) but, it does not take the effect of shear which plays an important role for getting results close to the actual result. There are different theories defining the behaviour of the beam which considers shear effect, we have taken one of the theories, “First-order Shear Deformation Theory” (FSDT). We have compared the natural frequencies of Abaqus with a research paper which used FSDT and found the error percentage. We have then found the “Shear Correction Factor” (SCF), which reduced the error percentage. Finally, we concluded that the effect of shear can be included in Abaqus by introducing SCF.
