"Crafted Communities"-Indian Brick Workers’ Justice: Rethinking Work Exploitation and Creating a 'Brick Village' for a Better Life and Stronger CommunityUniversity of Michigan
Brick workers in India often face harsh working conditions and exploitation, with little opportunity for a better livelihood. This initiative rethinks the traditional approach by creating a "Brick Village"—a self-sustaining community designed to provide fair wages, improved living conditions, and access to education and healthcare. By integrating ethical labor practices with thoughtful urban planning, this project aims to empower workers, preserve their craftsmanship, and foster a thriving community beyond just labor.
