Enzymatic synthesis of long, functionalized oligonucleotides. KTH Royal Institute of Technology , Moligo technologies
The aim of the project was too broaden the company’s synthetic single stranded DNA (ssDNA) synthesis platform to produce ssDNA harbouring two different modified nucleotides. This was achieved by the following approach- Optimisation of Rolling circle amplification (RCA) and digestion steps of the Monoclonal Stoichiometric (MOSIC) method to achieve the desired ssDNA production.

Assessment of breast cancer treatment-predictive biomarker: ER alpha, using qPCR and Immuno-histochemistry.KTH Royal Institute of Technology
The aim of the laboratory project was to determine the ER alpha status of two cancer patients using tissue and RNA samples to predict whether they are good candidates for hormonal therapy by utilising Immunohistochemistry and Quantitative Polymerase Chain reaction methods.

Host Antigen Binding assay development for early detection of Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL).National Institute of Miner's Health
My undertaken study focused upon analyzing the potential of ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay) techniques for the purpose of its utilization as an early diagnostic method of NIHL. The study dealt with the development of a host antigen binding assay rather than using a ready-made ELISA kit and thus is a cost-effective method due to the higher cost needed for the manufacture of a ready-made ELISA kit.The above study estimated the levels of the Connexin-26 (Cx-26) proteins in the serum samples from various individuals and it was found that the levels of this protein were elevated in individuals suffering from NIHL. Hence if the Cx-26 levels in the serum samples of individuals are determined then they can be used to diagnose the presence of NIHL. The ELISA tests are also more reliable than the common audiometry tests since the latter are subject to changes and are not accurate. The research helped to strengthen the potential of Cx-26 protein to becoming a future biomarker for early diagnosis of NIHL.
